Sources said to the media: “This girl killed herself by a haunting gun in Nawgunbad village of Giti district yesterday 3, July.

According to the sources she abandoned her house to marry a man, however, she was married.

Sources added: “She left home without her father’s permission and her father nagged her.

“She committed suicide after returning to her father’s home,” sources said.

Girls running away from their parent’s houses to get married is considered one of the causes of violence and causes of violence against women, which is prevalent in Daikundi Province. The escape of girls with the intention of marriage is mostly done by deception from men or when the families oppose the marriage of a girl and a boy.

After the dominance of the Taliban group in Afghanistan, cases of acute violence, especially suicide and murder of women by their families have increased.
